The Girls With No Name

It’s been quite a while since my last post.

It’s not because I’ve been naughty and on a computer ban. No No No.

It’s because my human has had a lot of things to sort out. She may be busy, but she still remembers that I need to have fun too. She’s good like that.  SO many things have been happening and there are SO many things to tell you.  It’s all really exciting for a puppy and I don’t know where to start!!

Eiger

I met my brother Eiger for a play the other week. It was only the third time that I’ve seen him since we left the litter and it was totally pawsome! He’s growing up really well and listening to his humans to … I try to listen, but there’s so much happening that I find it hard sometimes.

Eiger with full attention on his human, I’m listening in …

Eiger’s very handsome, of course!

We were very good on our day out. We played, drank in the river and covered ourselves in mud and stink. It was great fun.

My human says that she has a bet with another Entlebucher owner, Alfie’s human’s. The bet is this … there is NO WAY that at 2 years old, I will sleep in a pub while we’re all having a meal.

My human thinks it’s ‘possible’ … and she’s very stubborn, so she’s on a mission to prove that I will, which means she goes to the pub a lot as a ‘training session’ for me. I told Eiger all about it and he agreed. He said he thinks it’s important that we learn to behave ourselves in the pub and act like the English do, so we had a practise together.

GOTCHA!!!

Something tells me, I’m going to do just fine and win this bet!!! *wag wag wag*

Fizz

I met a friend through blogging. She’s called Fizz and is a Bernese Mountain Dog, which technically makes us cousins. Her human recognised my park on my blog and the humans arranged for us to have a play together. THAT was Pawsome too. Most of my friends are boys, so it was really nice to meet a girl for once. My human says that  it’s good to have girlfriends because there will be some time soon that I won’t be allowed to play with the boys. I don’t know why.

Swiss Mountain Dogs RULE

Fizz was very funny. She told me that she liked the water too. This is the difference between boys and girls. My big brother Alfie tries to push me in, so does my brother Bertie. They both say I’m a silly girl. Marvel races and races around in the water to try and show me how fun it is. But Fizz, Fizz plods into the water and asks if I’m coming … when I said no, she said it’s ok, I’m only a baby and soon it will seem fun and not scary … but she had to go, because she had some ducks to catch.

She took a last look at the grass and walked into the water. She didn’t catch a duck … and then she realised something quite important … When you’re a big Bernese Mountain Dog, you should always check BEFORE you get in the water that there is somewhere to get out.

Fizz needs a little help.

All in all, it was a PAWSOME day and I can’t wait to meet up with Fizz again.

PAWSOME

Talking of Pawsome … there is something AMAZINGLY PAWSOME happening in the Entlebucher world in the UK.  My friend Shadow had a romantic weekend away in Switzerland just before our Fun Day.

Guess what ?

THERE ARE 5 MORE B PUPPIES!!!

Told you it was Pawsome!!

Britannia, the first born ‘B’ girl (just like me) was born at 7:30am on Monday morning last week. Followed by her brother Beethoven, then another sister Bodicea, then two more boys Bossonova and Bumble, who popped out after 5pm that day. It was a long day for Shadow.

They’re totally PAWSOME. Shadow is a very good mum and I’m watching her all the time and the puppies. I think I love them a little bit. If you want to love them a little bit too, you can see them here

PUPPY CAM !!!  – just follow the link to the PuppyCam Live.

There is a puppy-cam on their box 24/7 and it’s LIVE. You can see them all wriggling about and feeding. Soon they’ll open their eyes and that’s when the fun will REALLY start.  I can’t wait. *wag wag wag*

You can check out what they’re all up to and follow the story of their birth on my friend Alfie’s blog. He’s the puppies Uncle and lives in their house with 3 other grown up Entlebuchers. It really is very special.  I can’t wait until they’re all grown up and we can make friends.

Salvador & The Girls With No Name

There’s been a bit of a change in our house. If you read my last blog post, you’ll have seen that unfortunately, we lost ‘Dinner’ the other week because of the fireworks. Her ticker stopped tocking and we had to say goodbye. Her real name was Belle, but my big brother Alfie and I used to joke and call them both Breakfast & Dinner.

Alfie was really upset when I told him Dinner was dead.

That just left Breakfast. His real name is Salvador.

He’s got a whole rabbit palace to himself and unfortunately, in the week that his wife died, he just got more and more sad.

First he was just sad. Then he went crazy because whenever I went into the garden he ran out to say hello to me! Then after that, he just sat there. Staring at the fence, not moving, his head hanging to the floor. Even I felt bad.

My human is a real softie. She gets very upset if an animal looks sad or hurt. Even insects. That’s why I love her. I can get what I want if I just look a bit sad. *wag wag wag*

She said that she had better find Salvador a new wife. He’s VERY handsome and thinks he’s the Rabbit King. Lots of ladies would fall for him. She said that it was important that he had a friend and wasn’t sad any more. So she started calling around the rescues.

Salvador, Rabbit King in his favourite spot in the garden

She visited a few to see if she could find a suitable girlfriend for him. No joy. Everyone was already paired up. She was worried that she was going to have to get a baby and bring it up to be a nice animal. Then last Saturday, she got a phone call. The rescue had something that they wanted her to come and see.

And BOY OH BOY, is Salvador a lucky, lucky rabbit.

The Girls With No Name

TOLD you she was a big softie.

So now we have Breakfast, Lunch AND Dinner … I CAN’T WAIT to show my big brother Alfie, he’s going to go all silly and waggy!!

My human is now socialising them together. She needs to make sure that they don’t fight. And of course, she needs some names. She says that Lunch and Dinner aren’t proper names for rabbits. I think they really look like a Lunch and Dinner.

What do you think?

Running Shoes

Last week, I called mischief on Guy Fawkes.

He deserved it.

Monday was the real night for celebrating but all of the public displays had been on the weekend. My human helped me write my blog post and then after that she went to feed her rabbits.

I’m not sure what happened. One moment she was happy with arms full of carrots and lettuce, the next moment I was being locked in the house and she had wet stuff on her face and her mouth had gone very straight.

She explained to me that I had to stay inside as something bad had happened to one of the rabbits and she needed to sort it out.

I don’t know what happened to the rabbit, but before Bonfire Night there were two rabbits and after that there has only been one. AND a big hole has been dug in the garden then covered over. I could have helped with that but my human said it was important that she did it.

I was locked in the house for a long time but I have never seen her face like that before, so I waited patiently, like a good girl.

When she came back she was quiet. She sat on the kitchen floor and gave me a huge cuddle. I’m not really a cuddly girl but I think she needed to just sit there for a minute.

A minute was long enough for me. I’d been very good. For a long time. Probably a whole hour and I needed my human to be happy again. You see, us dogs, we’d love to talk sometimes. Sometimes we just want to tell you that it’s all ok. Bad things happen but as long as you have a puppy in your life you won’t stay sad for long.

I had a little bark but she didn’t understand. So I thought I’d have to show her.

I took the shoes out for a run. *wag wag wag* It’s not mischief though. It’s called cheering up. *wag wag wag*

Don’t you think I did a good job of cheering her up?

Remember, Remember, the 5th of November

Explosions and Bangs

There’s been WAY too much mischief from the humans this weekend.

WAY too much. Almost too much for a puppy to handle.

Last week, in the night time when I have my walk, something strange has been happening. Explosions. I thought my world was going to end. It’s been very confusing for a puppy. The sky has been exlpoding in colours and lots of bangs. They’re so bright that they light up the street. It’s so loud that it makes my feet run all by themselves. And the smell … there’s such a funny smell in the air.

My human had to sit down and explain something to me. It went like this …

Remember, Remember,

The fifth of November,

Gunpowder, Treason & Plot.

We see no reason,

Why Gunpowder Treason,

Should ever be forgot.

She said that there was more to explain, but it was a lot for a puppy to understand. Especially when they’re being distracted by explosions. But that it was VERY mischeivious.

She said that a long time ago, a man called Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the King and the rulers of England. Guy Fawkes and his friends got some barrels of gunpowder, bought a house next door to the Houses of Parliament and filled up their cellar with the barrels. Guy Fawkes had an important job because his job was to set the barrels on fire. He was a true mischief maker.

Guy Fawkes was caught by soldiers in the cellar with the barrels of gunpowder and was taken to the Tower of London where he was tortured, probably by not having any treats and getting a big TIME-OUT in a boring room. To start with he didn’t tell anything and kept the mischief all to himself, but eventually, with ‘reward based training’ they managed to get the truth out of Guy Fawkes and he told EVERYTHING.

Every year, everyone in England celebrates because the Houses of Parliament were not blown up and The King was not killed. They celebrate by making a ‘Guy’ and burning him on top of a fire. After that there’s a big pawty and all of the humans set off gunpowder into the sky and then sticks fall out of the sky into the park – but I’m not allowed to play with them.

Helping to set up the big rockets at the park

In the morning, my human took me to the park so that I could inspect the fireworks before they were set alight. She told me that EVERYONE from my world would be there that night. That all the dogs would be left at home and they were just supposed to sleep through all the banging. She said it was nothing to worry about, that the Queen is alive and that I could have a walk afterwards.

Inspecting the fireworks going onto the lake

So they left me.

Indoors.

By myself.

Alone.

Lonely.

Listening to Explosions

And seeing flashes.

When they came home, my human took me for a walk. There were so many people on the streets! It was all very exciting for a puppy. It was so exciting that I forgot to cause mischief of my own like I had planned.

When everyone was back home. Every time an explosion went off, I jumped up, ran to the door and BARKEDASLOUDASICAN to let the humans know that everyone was still having the paw-ty and they were missing out.

As you can see, NO mischief from me this weekend.

I’m calling Mischief on Guy Fawkes!!!
