Rabbit Herder

It’s been another busy week for me. First was the vets. We went back there and I had to have another injection, it hurt me but I only yelped once and then had a sleep on the table again. Just to show the vet that I didn’t mind and that I was brave. My human said I was getting big so they weighed me and in a week I’ve gone up from 5.2kg to 7.1kg. I’m going to be really big and strong. I’m getting taller as well because I can get up on the sofa all by myself now even though I’m only allowed sometimes.

The rabbits aren’t scared of me this week. My human used to let them graze in the garden every day. They’ve not done that since I arrived. After a few days of me asking if the rabbits can come outside and the rabbits asking to come outside, even when I was up close, my human decided to see if I was a good Entlebucher herder. (Of course I am!)

My human told me that there is a place in the garden that she doesn’t want the rabbits to go and that she’s fed up of chasing them away. I can have a herding job and that can be it. I thought that this sounded great! The rabbits aren’t allowed on the vegetable patch and they’re not allowed at the back of the garden, all I had to do was keep them away.

It was really good fun and my human said that they weren’t even really scared of me. Every time the rabbits went across a path I was allowed to make them move. They’re really fast and one of them even jumped really high when I came near which really made me want to chase even more, but my human said I was just getting carried away. I got really close to the big one and went to catch his feet. He ran off … I had herded! I had to sit down again and just watch until they went past the path. Sometimes I watched the wrong rabbit but my human showed me how to run around them so I could stop them both at the same time. We worked for 15 minutes and then herded them back into their palace.

I’m the best herder ever and when I’m big and fast I’ll be allowed to herd off the lead and everything! For now I’ll just have to practise on the rabbits. My human says she’s not sure if it’s a good idea … what do you think? Should I be allowed a proper Entlebucher job or should I not be allowed near the rabbits?

  1. Roooo I wish I could help you herd those rabbits little sis, but truth be told I might just have them for dinner if I manage to catch one. I think the humans should train you to herd the little fluff balls around the garden. Good herding training for you, and exercise for the rabbits! *Waggy tail*

  2. I think you should try it. They won’t taste too good, they smell funny. I’ll tell my human to let me carry on. WOOF !
