Rabbit Protector

I’ve been at my new home for just over 1 week now. I’m having a great time and learning a lot every day. There’s so much to tell you I don’t know where to begin. I suppose a good start place would be my litter mates. Everyone was in their new homes by Saturday last week and I was wondering who would change their names when they moved. As we were all a B litter, we were all named with B’s. There’s me (Bella), Bonnie and Becky for the girls and then the boys are Bailey, Benji and Bookshie. So far I’ve heard that two of the boys have changed their names. Bookshie is now Bertie and Benji has been called Eiger. I like both of their new names and my humans told me that Eiger is the name of a mountain in my fatherland.

I got given a job to do this week. I love jobs and because I’m clever I can do anything. Before I have my dinner I have to do 3 things over and over again. I have to sit. This means I have to put my wagger on the floor. I have to down. This means I have to pounce on my humans hand with my front paws and keep my wagger on the floor at the same time. And I have to put my hands UP. This means that I have to jump on my human, smile on my face and wagg my tail. I’m really good at it all but my human says it’s a start. I get my dinner so I think I’m doing something right.

I’ve met so many people this week. I even went to a new vets. I’ve been to the vets before and I already know I’m really brave, so I just went to sleep on the high table. My human told me that we were there because I needed one more jab and then a week after that she says she’s going to take me some place special. I don’t know where she means because I’ve already explored my world. My house is good and my garden is good too. I’ve been walking around it on my lead and collar a lot. I think that’s what they call a walk. It’s good and I get to see my favourite stick every time.

The other day, when I was on a walk in the garden my human took me to meet the rabbits properly. I had to sit and be nice and calm and she called them out. They’re just like dogs and they came out straight away. I was really good and just sat there watching which made the rabbits brave enough to come and sniff me. I wanted to sniff them too, so I had to move really slowly to stop them from running away. We had a talk we did! The boy rabbit said to me that if I come any closer then he’ll kick my butt. I’ve never had my butt kicked before but I’m not sure I’d like it. After that he told me that I have another job. He said that I am the rabbit protector and when I’m much bigger my job is to chase the foxes off. I’m a herder so I know I can do this.

My human says that we may have made friends but she doesn’t trust me to see them in the palace yet. I’ll be good though … and I think I’ll make a brilliant rabbit protector. I’m going to ask my humans to get me a glow in the dark collar, so I can be an Entlebucher Super Hero … Reflector Protector. That’s me!

WOOF!! Image

  1. Watch out for those long rabbit legs Bella, they can kick really hard! *waggy tail*

    • They have got really big paws! My human says I don’t stand a chance. I’ll watch out!

  2. Hello Bella, I’m Tino, a Netherlands dwarf rabbit. It would be great if you could keep me up to date how it is going with your rabbits, as my humans have just put their names down on the Entlebucher waiting list! I had a very frighterning experience with a spaniel yesterday and now I am a bit worried, to be honest. BTW: Not trying to hit on you or anything, but, boy, are you gorgeous!

  3. Hi Tino! I’ll keep you updated with how we get on. My rabbits are Dutch Lops so they’re close cousins of yours. I’m not going to bite, I just want to smell them and play. My human says I’m good because I’ve never showed any aggression, whatever that is. But Tino … don’t run, because I just can’t help myself when that happens. WOOF!

  4. Hehe, I know! I don’t think I would be worried that the future pup will bite me but I am not so keen on chasing games. My old friend was a 14 yr old Bichon Frisee and I enjoyed most to chase him, which he didn’t like and got fed up. But he was old and he passed away 1 1/2 yrs ago. And of course you Entlis are a whole different breed! I have got a rabbit run here which invites dogs to run all the way around it, scaring me to (almost) death. Hmm …
