Welcome to my blog! I’m Bella. An 8 week old Entlebucher Mountain Dog that’s just moved to Kent.
I was born in Norfolk, to my mum Queenie as one of a litter of 6. 3 boys and 3 girls. We’re our mum’s second (B) litter, so we’ve all got names that begin with B. I wonder how many humans will change my brother’s and sister’s names when they move in? I’m keeping my name. I heard that an animal in the house had to change their name from Belle because I was coming (ha ha ha!). I’m hoping to write once a week to let you all know what I’m up to and how training my new humans is getting on. As I get older, I’ll add more and more interesting things to my dog blog. I just have to learn it all first.
My new humans came to pick me up yesterday. My two sisters had left around 20 sleeps ago. My new humans told me that was a Thursday. So I’d been the only girl for two night times. I’m a very sleepy girl and my brothers are C-R-A-Z-Y! So I got jumped on A LOT!
We’d just had lunch when my new humans turned up. I recognised their smell as they’d been to see me when I was tiny and they left a towel for us all to rip up WOOF! … I mean smell. The man one is really tall and the lady one has nice fluffy hair with curls that are fun for pulling, because they bounce back up and I can try to catch them. I have to show them how good I am at jumping and catching don’t I? Today they smelt of soap and sausages so I knew that they were nice people.
When I’d said my goodbyes to my old pack, the lady one carried me to their van. She was saying something about me getting into the van myself. I saw the van and had a really big wriggle because it was just so big. They didn’t pay attention so I yelped a lot instead. I was a bit scared to leave my mum. The lady one just held me in the same position. I felt safe enough and realised that nothing bad was happening to me. It was just new, that’s all. Once I’d calmed down I relaxed my ears and let my tongue hang out and then the lady one knew I was ok to try again. I could smell something nice on the seat but I couldn’t get up by myself. I looked at my lady human and she put my front paws onto the seat. It made me want to put my back paws down on something because I felt unstable, so I climbed into the van and WOOF! I made it. I liked it. She helped me, but didn’t do it for me. I think she’ll be a good part of my team.
There were two loud bangs and then I was shut in the van with both of my humans. They started the noise and the movement and I was a bit worried at first but after a few minutes I started to feel really sleepy. I walked round in a little circle on the floor and then lay down for a snooze. It was a really good snooze and it was nice to not be jumped on while I was sleeping – I even had some dreams.
When we arrived at MY new house, I was really sleepy from the hot weather and the long drive. I was woken up by a chicken smell. As soon as I woke up I wanted to follow that smell! It smelt so good! I got out of the van with some help and then I tried to walk off. It was a shock when I felt a tug at the top of my neck. They had done the unthinkable. I had a collar and a lead on! YUK!! They were trying to own me. I didn’t like that one little bit. I wriggled and I yelped and I wriggled and I shouted as loud as I could. The collar was pulling at the top of my neck and it was horrible. It wasn’t working and I couldn’t get it off with my paws either! I gave up. I sat down and then I realised something. It wasn’t the lady human that was pulling on my neck, it was only because I was struggling! It felt much better when I was just sitting there. When I realised that, the human just walked off … I quickly followed so that I didn’t make the lead pull me and we walked into the house. Lady first, then the man, then me. I think she’s the boss in this house because she went in first. I wonder what will happen if I don’t do as she says?
After a good sniff and snooze the humans had some dinner. Their dinner smelt nice and they were more interested in their plates than me so I thought it was time to train them and show them all the noises I could make. I growled, I yelped, I did a really big WOOF and then … I did my falsetto. I had a howl. Haaaaoooooooooooo. Haaaaooooooo. At first they were ignoring me, but this one got them! The lady laughed a lot and the man was smiling too! I think they’re a bit crazy because the man started howling and then so did the lady. I’ll have to train them, because they’re not very good at it!
When the humans went to bed, I followed them in there and my bed and blanket were in their room. I wanted to sleep in their bed so I did a lot of yelping at them. I could tell the lady one felt sorry for me, so I carried on. After a while she hung her foot out of the bed for me and I lay down underneath it, nice and close. I heard her move it later into her bed, but it was ok.
Today we have just been getting to know each other, playing in the sunshine and lots of sleep on such a hot day.
Later in the evening, it got a bit cooler and I decided to investigate the garden some more. Guess what? I’ve found how to train the humans. I walked down the garden and I found what they call ”the rabbit palace” … and guess what? There are two huge rabbits in there. They’re bigger than me! And guess what? They run really fast and smell really good. And guess what else? I’m going to catch them! The humans are finding it hard to stop me, but they’ll be pleased when they see how fast I am and how I can catch a giant rabbit. Don’t ya think?
